i wanna a hair style that doesn't involve straightening

I, too, have wavy/curly hair. I asked a hairstylist for a recommendation for a cute hair cut style. She recommended I keep it longer, and spend time styling it on the days i want a change. She said curly hair that is cut short requires more time to style than I'm willing to do EVERY DAY. And, if i don't style it,I'll get a mushroom look (puffy curly hair/ thin neck).

Just keep this mind.
