Spiking my hair - how to?

I've got hair that's about 4 inches long on top and shorter at the sides. What's the best way to spike it -

- So it sticks up in individual spikes like a hedgehog?

- So I get a mini mohican running down the centre of my head?

Suggestions on the best hairsprays and hair stuffs to use, and tips on how to get my hair to stick up better would be appreciated.

I've got quite thick hair, and it takes quite a lot of gel to get it to even stay where I want it normally. I've tried V05 gel. I've tried spiking it several times, using a comb, and my fingers but it never looks very good. Please help!

These work best when hair is med. lonf on top and clear all around.

Top products are Joicos (Make) Ice (range) Spiker (products)

ie Ice Spiker. And not the coloured ones either (they suck)

Look on the net you unless in austrailia/newzealand.

Tigi Beadhead is also good but not so smooth when putting it up so harder to handle (so use lots)

or mix the two.

Anywash and dry hair (helps to com it so straight),

Mix a cubic inch or so of it into your hair so soaked through then mauipulate hoe you like with say a pin tail comb.

Thats a comb with a pen lenght thin metal rod (1mm thick) instead of a handle so you can use it to part your hair for spikes

Comb through it so straight and not knotted and scult into spikes maybe adding a bit of the products between fingers.

Mohwks should take a fe minutes if that, then the more spikes and complexity the longer it takes.

So thats add Joicos ice spiker, Tigi bed head hard head mowark gel or both to hair run it through then sculpt , run comb through and part with the metal spike.

Once done then you can add 'Stargazer' UV hairspray (in thin blck cna) its the best and strong but does not last long ( and as UV glows under blacklight)

You can get these big really bick like figners combs which may help the hedhog look.

Mohawk run your hands together on your head like slowly clapping it and moving up.

FORGET GEL IT WONT DO YOU NEED THE STUFF I MENTIONED.

nOT SURE WHAT Country you are in... If in London UK you can get stargazer hairspray in Camden, namely somewhere in the canal market (with tunnel) and a hiar place on Camden high street does the tigi stuff

Also separate hair into sections and run comb thoug then twist into spikes.

Try goth shops they are a good bet for stargazer or rave ones

Oh and ice spiker and bed head are splash proof but wash out with normal smapoo the hair spray will run when wet like powderpaint

Use these so you know what you are looking for then find your own supplier

Once set will go hard as rock and you can even jump in and out of water. (but no fancy shampoo needed)

You could even try the polo game...

Put mints or similar on spikes... rules are girls can take sweets but no hands... hands behind their back guess where your head is?

try something like moulding wax, not as gloopy as gel, and it worked with me when I was spikey. Fudge is a good one, about 鎷? a tub, but you get what u pay for. Very strong hold.

Well, it depends how your hair is, sometimes combs, hands, gels, hairsprays might not be good enough because your hair is not the right type to do this. Really, What I do is:

-Thourougly wet your hair until you get a good "semi" spike

-Now add a bit of gel

-Maybe comb the front of the hair( I use a kind of comb which is like the old school 'Grease' Style Comb but thicker teeth)

and Whoala, Your hair is done!

If your hair is really thick gel won't work because it isn't tacky/sticky enough.

Try using some kind of balm or, my personal favorite, rusk gutsy cream. You need something that's thick and sticky so you can mold your hair. After you've got it spiked give it a very good spray of the firmest hold hair spray you can get.

Have you tried using egg whites? I used to go to school with this kid who had the awesomest mohawk going on and he used egg whites to get it to stand straight up.

to get spikes use wax eg from umberto giannini and spray it - elnett is good. mould the hair into small spikes with your fingers. to get the wax out, you need to put shampoo on it BEFORE you wet your hair, wash it out and shampoo it normally. to get a mohican, try a gel or the wax again. use strong hold gel - any make should be fine though.

if your hair is 4 inches long, regular gel won't be strong enough to hold it up. there are some great products that aren't too hard on hair, even chemically treated hair (like mine, which is currently bright blood red), and rinse out easily with shampoo.

some of my favorites are "rock hard epoxy" rock-hard bonding resin, by FX; "defiant" define + shine pomade, by got2be; and most definitely "hard head" mohawk gel, by bed head (by tigi).
