wen its damp, and beginning to section off into waves then gently grab at the bottoms of the hair from below and squeeze into a fist as u move your hand upwards. this should shape thecurls. you'll get much better results if you use a litle mousse though.

I know you don't want to hear this, but gel will create amazing results. I have extremely frizzy and slightly wavy hair. I use V05 gel only, and it makes my hair sleek and smooth, air- or blow-dried. If I want my hair curly, I'll just use my curling iron on small sections of hair. If you only use a pea-sized amount of gel it won' make your hair gunky, just smooth and soft, Plus V05 is really cheap and you can buy it at practically ANY drugstore.

Instead of gel or hairspray, try mousse.
