Kitty's got something in her hair!!??

apparently my cat has gotten something in her hair.. i dont know what it is.. but for lack of a better description it's almost like gel... it's kinda matting the hair in one spot.. she wont sit still for me to brush it out (pisses her off) and i tried a little water on a paper towel and it didn't do anything but piss her off even more.. any suggestions?

brush her gently and see if it comes off if not when your cat is in a deep sleep add a tiny bit of water to a paper towol and get the spot if kitty wakes up during this dry her off with a clean washcloth and pet her till she dozes back to sleep

if it still wont come off go too a vet because untidy fur can be a sign of illness

Beard %26amp; Mustache trimmer the hair grows back in no time its easy to do and doesn't bug the cat. Just have it trim the one spot out.

wait until she takes a nap, then try very soft(so she don't wake up) clean it with water (maybe some soap) and a napkin, if that don't work, try to brush her again, when she sleeps and again if that don't work give it a couple days may be she will lick it off with her tongue. Cats can clean themselves.

well that happened to my cat once, and i just stuck him in the sink, wrapped a towel around my waist and turned on the water very lightly, gently brushing the hair out until it came out, but i got all scratched up...so you might just want to cut it out of her fur.

Get someone to wear a denim jacket or something, wrap your cat in a thick towel, with her back exposed so you can clean it off properly.

Since you don't know what it is, it could harm your kitty, either internally (if she does end up reaching there to lick it), or it could affect her skin.

I use those pet wipes (like baby wipes) on my cat, they clean pretty good. First, I pet them, then just kinda switch to the wipes, they've learned to actually enjoy it. If you have to hold her to clean her or cut it out, wrap a towel around her body so she can't get her paws out. This will help keep you from getting scratched. It's easier when you do this, if someone can hold her while you trim the hair.

Does she go outside? If yes, she could have been bitten and it is absessed. The absess will ooze stuff out into the fur that is sticky. Especially if she does not want you to touch that area, it hurts. You need to take her to the vet and have them look under her fur to check for that, let the professionals do it, they know how to without getting torn to shreds. I had a 2 yr old cat that got bit on the base of the tail, had one spot doing that, took her to the vet and they found 2 holes. Imagine a black cat with the base of her tail shaved 3/4's around so they could flush the infection out. She looked funny for awhile and lived for 14 yrs.
