How do i turn Straight hair into extreme curls?

i have very LONG STRAIGHT black hair and i'm sick of it. gel, hairspray, mousse, curling irons, nothing has worked. even if i leave it all night. i don't want a perm to damage my hair either. here are some examples of what i'd like: http://images.meredith.com/lhj/images/03...

Roller set, if you have no where to go early in the day you could start then and keep the rollers in until you start getting dressed for the party. Or if you have a dryer at home, you could start a few hours prior and sit under the dryer for about an hour.

If you have a problem with your hair holding, you will need to find a product that has a lot of hold but wont make your hair hard and crunchy that you can use on your wet hair when doing the roller set.

If you can get a friend to help you with the back, or maybe you feel comfortable doing it yourself. I always do my own roller sets, I start the night before and let it dry for a little while then sleep in the rollers. When I did my first set, it took a little extra time but I quickly got the hang of it.

I have long straight black hair too and I find that small rollers ( a little bigger than your finger) do for the first two pics, I used to roll my head up in small rollers leave them over night and the next morning they would be bouncy as hell, and for that J Lo look larger rollers will do that trick. If all else fails, go to the salon, you can't go wrong. Good luck

something that i looooove to do and so do my friends...is to wash your hair, and while wet, twist or braid straight to the back. it'll look way better than a bunch of curls and for this season, u know its all about messy waves and big hair, so try this look! after ur done twisting/braiding, let it dry or air dry overnight and in the morning, take it aloose and u'll look fab!

I have the same type of hair, but when you go to curl your hair with the curling iron make sure you spray the entire strand with hairspray first. Then when your whole head is curled, spray it again real good. Try a mega hold hairspray.

*Wrap a newspaper strip tightly around a small section of your hair like curlers (so that it is stiff and will not fall out).

*Leave it for about 9 hours.

*Take out later and see if there are any changes.
